Privacy

There are two things called OmniShelf and they behave differently. The application on your phone collects nothing. This website, like most websites, uses cookies, and may in future show advertising through third-party networks. This page describes both, plainly.

1. The Android application

The OmniShelf app has no account system, no analytics, no advertising SDK and no crash-reporting SDK. Your library, reading progress, bookmarks and notes are stored in local storage on your device. Uninstalling the app removes them.

The app uses the internet permission only for actions you start: opening an OPDS catalogue you added, downloading a book, or fetching a cover. Those requests go from your device directly to the server you chose; no server operated by this project is involved, and there is none to send anything to.

The app requests broad file access so that it can index book files that already exist on your device. It reads ebook and document formats and writes only to the book folder you choose and to its own directory.

2. This website: cookies

omnishelf.cc is a static site. It does not ask you to register, and it does not store personal information on a server we run.

Cookies may be set by this site or by third parties whose services are embedded in it. Cookies are small text files placed on your device that allow a site or a service to recognise a browser across visits. We use them, where they appear, for two purposes: keeping the site working correctly, and — if advertising is enabled — allowing third-party advertising systems to deliver and measure ads.

3. Third-party advertising, including Google AdSense

This site may use third-party advertising services, including Google AdSense, to display advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or to other websites.

Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. This is commonly described as personalised or interest-based advertising.

These third-party systems operate under their own privacy policies. We do not receive, and cannot read, the individual data those systems hold about you. We see aggregate reports: how many pages were viewed, roughly which countries visitors came from, and whether an ad slot performed. Nothing in those reports identifies a person.

4. How to opt out of personalised advertising

You can opt out of personalised advertising in several ways:

    - Google Ads Settings — [adssettings.google.com](https://adssettings.google.com), where you can turn off ad personalisation for your Google account.

    - [aboutads.info/choices](https://www.aboutads.info/choices/) and [youronlinechoices.com](https://www.youronlinechoices.com), which cover many advertising vendors in the United States and Europe.

    - Your browser's own cookie controls. Blocking third-party cookies generally prevents personalised advertising from being delivered, though you will still see advertising — it will simply be less relevant.

Opting out does not remove advertising. It stops advertising from being tailored to your inferred interests.

5. Analytics and server logs

This site does not run a first-party analytics product that profiles individual visitors. The hosting provider records standard request logs — IP address, user agent, requested path, timestamp — for operational and security purposes. Those logs are retained for a short period and are not combined with any other data.

6. Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them. The application is rated for general audiences and collects no data at all.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data held about you, and to object to processing. Because this site holds no account data, most such requests concern data held by advertising vendors, which you must address to them directly using the controls in section 4. If you believe this site holds data about you, write to the address below and we will answer within 30 days.

8. Changes to this policy

If advertising is enabled on this site, or if the app begins to collect anything it does not collect today, this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change. The current version describes the site as it is: a static publication with no advertising code deployed at the time of writing.

9. Contact

Questions about this policy: hello@omnishelf.cc. The source code of the application is public at github.com/tt7247129-sys/omnishelf.
